Eatonton Presbyterian Church

Mission Statement: To be a congregation that shines forth the light of love of Jesus Christ in our community and world, baptizing in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Vision Statement: Our vision for life together provides a safe spiritual home where all people can explore faith, find healing, and share the love of Jesus Christ.

It is with great joy and knowledge that God’s Blessings are upon us, that the Members of Eatonton Presbyterian Church announce the arrival of our new Pastor. The Reverend Garland S. Hart began his Pastoral Leadership at Eatonton Presbyterian on March 1, 2016. He will serve as a full time Minister and has begun residency in Eatonton. Reverend Hart will be at the Church office Monday through Friday in the mornings. Reverend Hart’s son Jonathan is a student at the Savannah College of Arts and Design and will graduate in June.

Reverend Garland Hart is the son of a Presbyterian Minister who served congregations in Virginia. After graduating from high school in Virginia, Garland attended and graduated from Wake Forest University with a B.A. in History. He soon followed the calling of our Lord and attended and graduated from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia, with a Masters of Divinity degree.

His first Ordained Call was at the Harbor View Presbyterian Church in Charleston, S.C., as an Associate Minister working with the Youth of the Church. After a year of service, God called him to become Pastor of the Williston Presbyterian Church in Williston, S.C., where he served for twelve years. From there Garland became Pastor of the Hartness-Thornwell Presbyterian Church and Thornwell Home and School for Children in Clinton, S.C. Garland’s most recent position was Pastor of Summerton Presbyterian Church where he served the congregation from 2002 through 2015. Garland’s vast experience over more than thirty years of ministry will serve Eatonton Presbyterian Church well as we seek to grow our membership and nurture the members of our beloved congregation.

We all recognize that a Minister alone does not succeed in his goals; every member of Eatonton Presbyterian must take a role in supporting our new Pastor. With continued prayer, input from every member of the congregation, and the Blessings received from Our Lord in providing our new leadership at this crossroad in the life of our Church, we will once again fill the pews on Sunday mornings and hear the songs of children among us.

With God’s Blessings, we welcome Pastor Garland Hart to Eatonton.
